Making Space for What Matters: Two Years of Freda

June marks two years since we introduced our 9-day fortnight, known as Freda.

What began as a simple idea has become an important part of the rhythm of life at Juliette Hogan. Every second Friday, our full-time team takes a 'free day' - an extra day away from work to spend however they choose.

Over the past two years, those days have been spent in countless different ways: time with family time, appointments and errands that would otherwise be squeezed into a busy weekend, travel, volunteering, exercise and rest. Space for hobbies and creative projects, and for the things that often take a back seat to the demands of everyday life.

As we continue to share the values that sit behind Juliette Hogan and our Behind the Garment series, human connection remains one of the principles that guides us. While that speaks to the relationships we build with our customers, makers and wider community, it begins within our own team.

Freda has never been about doing more; it’s about creating space for the things that matter. While those moments often inspire what we bring back into our work, their value extends far beyond that.

Two years on, Freda remains a meaningful part of how we work at Juliette Hogan. It reflects a belief that supporting people extends beyond the workplace, and that making space for wellbeing, creativity and connection benefits everyone.

Below, we've shared a selection of images that offer a glimpse into how Team JH has been spending their Freda days in recent months.
