Collection 2021.FOUR Launch

Introducing Collection 2021.FOUR. Evoking a subtle 70s vibe, Juliette looked to the freedom and vibrancy of architecture and design of the era for inspiration, filtered back through a refined lens.

The collection balances playful feminine silhouettes against more masculine sharp tailored pieces in a surprising palette of fresh pop tones and signature JH prints, highly anticipated each season.

We chat to Juliette and Alice about their inspiration behind the designs.

WHAT WAS YOUR MAIN SOURCE OF INSPIRATION FOR THE COLLECTION?

JULIETTE & ALICE: The inspiration started with a sort of 70s vibe- the liberation of women, and the newfound individuality they had in their fashion choices were themes we tried to evoke through our design choices. Some reference images that started our mood board, include an image of Cher and Slim Aarons, colour blocking architecture, and images to invoke the general feeling of freedom. Some of the prints do reflect the more 70s aesthetic, the kaleidoscope, and tie-dye, as well as the more bright contrasting coloured prints.

HOW DID THIS INSPIRATION MANIFEST IN THE COLLECTION?

ALICE: I’d say the prints reflect this feeling the best.

JULIETTE: Alongside the prints, we made considered decisions around the colours that we wanted to use. I love pink and red together. When I was little we were led to believe that red and pink shouldn’t be worn together but they can work so beautifully alongside each other when paying attention to the tones of the colours. The suiting colours are the perfect tones to complement each other and I love how Alice has styled the suiting in the campaign shoot. We used these colours as the guide for the Night Garden Crush print and I love how that print works back with both the suiting colours. The prints, all of them really, can talk back to the overall mood of the collection – some in a more sophisticated sense (Mosaic Musk) and others more playful (Cotton Floral Paisley).

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVOURITE PIECES IN THE COLLECTION?

ALICE: The Sailor Shirt is a cool, classic piece- think it will work hard in my wardrobe, from beach days to easily being made work appropriate. I am also here for the organic cotton element and the structure it brings.

JULIETTE: Same for me – love this shape. It will become a firm staple in my wardrobe.
